Public Notice
A Special Resolution of Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara (including a postal ballot) has been passed by postal ballot ratifying the Deed of Settlement, and to allow the trustees of Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust and Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Tari Pupuritaonga Trust to enter into the Deed. Agreement in Principle: A Big Step Forward
On 22 December 2009, at Te Awaroa/Helensville, the Crown signed a Letter of Offer with us. The offer took effect as an Agreement in Principle between the Crown and Ngati Whatua o Kaipara. The Crown were represented by Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations Christopher Finlayson and former cabinet minister Rt Hon Sir Doug Graham.
The detail of the Agreement in Principle has been further negotiated in 2010 and 2011. This was an important step and a great day for our people. Thanks to everyone involved in helping us get to this point.
