What you see today is just the beginning of what we hope will become a fuller, more whanau-focussed hub, helping to bring us together, not just in respect of our claim, but also in our broader life.
I wanted to emphasise the our in there because kaiparamoana.com, while off to a good start, can only ever be as good as we make it.
For now, korero, our blog, is the primary means for whanau to participate and discuss issues online, based round blog posts centered on a particular topic. A website can’t replace hui, but it can add to their value, by involving people who can’t attend, and helping us be more aware of the issues and each other before we come together.
I’d really like to encourage you to to debate, discuss, tell us what does and doesn’t work for you, and as this is a blog post about the website, then this is a place to comment and let us know how we might improve the site in the future and what you’d like to see out of it.
I can let you know that next up we plan to provide a special version for low bandwidth users. Further down the track we’ll be looking at a more open forum for whanau to initiate discussions, a wiki to enable everyone to contribute to our shared history, and some facilities to better handle, and make available claim documents.
Feeling hung up about the technology? Reel in your mokopuna to help get you started.
You can participate now with a comment (below) on blog posts or you can reply to other people’s comments.
Kia ora mai tatou,
Margaret
