Finally negotiations between Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara and the Crown have come to an end and a draft deed of settlement is available for your perusal on our website www.kaiparamoana.com and the Office of Treaty Settlements website www.ots.govt.nz. All registered members 18 years of age and over will be sent a ratification information booklet and voting pack shortly. A postal ballot will take place from 15 July to 27 August. A series of hui is being organised within that timeframe to give whānau an opportunity to understand the proposed settlement and the voting process. Voting will take place by postal ballot and there will be a sealed ballot box at each hui for you to cast your vote in confidence if you wish. Otherwise postal ballots must be postmarked on or before Friday 26 August and received by the Returning Officer no later than Wednesday 31 August. You will be asked to accept or reject the settlement: Yes or No.
